Indigo - It's done...for now

Image
I finally finished my first short story. Please check it out; you can download it from Amazon for free here:  Indigo . Actually, this isn't just my first short story, it's my first work in general. I've written stories and poems randomly, but none have been published until now, even self-published. I hope you guys like it. Blurb: She travels to the edge of the known universe where Mother Nature’s influence is lost. Harsh, natural rules have no power where she is headed. Decisions, time, and death can be undone, but so can memories, happiness, and even love. She merely seeks her heart’s desire, but sometimes reality is worth more than our wildest dreams.

Blog Update on Activity

If you look at the dates for all of the posts on this blog except for the first one, you'll notice they're all the same. That's because I have finally committed to this blog. While I can't promise that I'll post every day, I can promise that I will post. It seems to me that I hold onto to information for a while; I'll let it all build up, and then decide to just have one big post-dump. I'll try to change that and post more regularly. As for upcoming posts, expect rants on the struggles and joys of writing. Maybe some posts on editing as well. I want to provide more meaningful and useful posts than just my opinions or personal experiences however and will be looking into more options to do so. P.S. - A huge thank you to all of the authors who agreed to be interviewed. As you can see, your support has populated over half of my blog posts at the time of writing. So thank you for your patience and kindness.

Potential Hook for a Short Story?

Hello each and every one of you. The other day, I was trying to come up with a solid hook for a short story I'm working on; however, it ended up having nothing to do with the story. That seems to happen a lot for me. Anyway, I decided to post what I have here for the joy/anger/disgust/etc. of anyone who bothers to read it. It revolves around suicide, which I know can be a touchy subject, and I don't want to offend anyone (though that is probably impossible today). So if you're sensitive to such material, feel free to skip it or just condemn my heartlessness in the comments - your call. The noose was restricting but not yet deadly; she still had time. She had time to make a decision:  Would she succumb to the allure of death if only to experience what happens after and no other reason, or would she survive, as is natural, and settle for an almost death? The room was full of eyes. Some were squeezed shut for they could not withstand the shapes formed in her writhing; howeve

Nicola Hollingsworth - Interview

Q: Please introduce yourself. A: My name is Nicola Hollingsworth (soon to be Nicola Paszkowski). Q: What are you working on now? A: I am working on a crime series called the Patrick O'Leary series. It comprises 4 books: 41 Carats, Painted Faces, Fire and Ice, and Nemesis. Q:  Why did you decide to write your current work? A:  I have always had a love of crime fiction – I read Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, Tess Gerrittsen and PD James to name but a few – and have wanted to try my hand at it for a while. My wedding ring designer, Rings Rock, has a workshop in Hatton Garden and it got me thinking about how you'd go about stealing a diamond. I looked into the idea of a criminal mastermind running an empire with his fingers in many pies, and thus the idea was born. I had to narrow it down to a few “major” crimes, or I'd have a 30-book series on my hands, but once I began dreaming about writing it I knew it had to be done. Q: What genre do you usually write in? Do you

Kendra Radke - Interview

Q: Please introduce yourself. A: I have a lot of names.  Mom, writer, author, blogger, K.E. Radke, one who eats too much, but we can stick to Kendra.  Not a popular name, but it’s hard to forget when you’re usually the only one. Q: What are you working on now? A: Zombies! And the sequel to Dead Man’s Hand. I finished my third book in October and am currently procrastinating before I go through a line by line edit. So I decided while I procrastinate I’d kill a bunch of people in the mean time. I actually found an awesome pinterest meme about authors killing off characters that I wish I could share right now. If you have time look me up Keradkebooks, its under the board: bookish truths. Q:  Why did you decide to write your current work? A:  The zombie book was this year, to pinpoint it exactly probably in September. It’s an impulse write. Does that make sense? I suffer from word vomit and when I get an idea it has to be written. Good, bad and the ugly words all have to put on th

Letitia Matthews - Interview

Q: Please introduce yourself. A: Hi, I’m Letitia, and I am addicted to words๐Ÿ˜Š. Well, I should clarify – the written word, more than the spoken word! Although I care deeply about people, humans are not my favorite creatures and I enjoy silence (in large doses). Aside from writing, I enjoy nature, photography, graphic design, paper crafts and more recently, I have begun to dabble in watercolors. Q:  What are you working on now? A:  To be very honest, I have committed to getting all my unpublished projects published by the end of 2017, before I’ll allow myself to really get into my new projects. So, I am re-working my first novel, which I wrote more than 15 years ago. Hopefully, I’ll publish it before the end of December. I have two children’s stories to publish in that time-frame too. However, my next projects are already consuming my thoughts, so I suppose it’s fair to say I have started them already… One is a novel – a contemporary Christian romance, and the other is

Q:  What are you working on now? A: I am currently working on Book 2 of the Tripton-Z Series and a stand alone Independent Professional Wrestling Serial Killer Novel. Q: Why did you decide to write your current work? A: People have thoroughly enjoyed Book 1 so a sequel is necessary. As for the Stand alone, I feel with my history behind the scenes in professional wrestling and my connections that it would be a very fun and unique perspective. Q: What genre do you usually write in? Do you typically write novels, short stories, poems, etc.? A: I write in the Post-Apocalyptic and Horror Genres. Most of the time

I don’t have a working title for the novel but I’ve been working on it for three years on and off, in the last couple of months I’ve tackled it seriously and plan to publish. Q:  Why did you decide to write your current work? A:  My current novel was inspired by a combination of V. C. Andrews works and Stephen king. I’ve always written for as long as I can remember, and it’s been my way of dealing with pain. My mother

The Writing Process...or at least My Writing Process

Hi all (or any at all) readers! My name is Leonard Foster, and I'm a beginning author trying to self-publish my first short story, Indigo .  I've been working on it for only about a month, and I have completed the initial draft and am currently enduring the editing process...which is terrible, but that's for another post. This post is about the elusive "Writing Process" or actually my own since elements of the process are different for each author. Hopefully this post will be thoughtful, hopefully you can relate, and hopefully it won't be a waste of your time. But if it is, I appreciate you wasting your valuable time with me. So here it goes... When I began teasing ideas of what my first short story (or any published work) would be about, I came up with an idea about a man (nameless) from the city of Everyday who, one night, visits a bizarre night club called The Velvet Underground. (That name comes from the Fleetwood Mac song, Gypsy , since this story ide
